Day 46 – Phoenix

—— Converted from outline form: 2013-9-19 ——

Had breakfast before departing Santa Fe. I dropped my parents off at the airport and said goodbye before starting my drive to Phoenix. I listened to my dad’s music in the car, which was mostly classic rock.

At one point I was stuck behind half of a house on a very small road, and couldn’t pass it, but at least the scenery was beautiful. I stopped at an Indian reservation to look for Buffalo Jerky, but couldn’t find it (I think the name of the place was Yellow Horse Fort or something).

At one point I got into the mountains in the Eastern part of Arizona, and I specifically remember listening to Wild Mountain Honey by the Steve Miller Band (although I didn’t know it at the time) and drove down this long beautiful winding road while the sunset was lighting up all the trees on the valley across the way.

I stopped in Globe for dinner at a place called La Casita, which was very good. Then finally got to Phoenix to meet with the Rubin’s, Nate and Elloise, who were our neighbors for a long time while I was growing up. I spent a little bit of time online before retiring to bed.
